Books for Lockdown

I downloaded a couple of books to get me through the next few days of lockdown.

I am always happy to promote a Michigan writer, so I chose the book
Stuck in Manistique.   I've been to Manistique several times over the years, and it is a beautiful place.  Can't wait to be able to travel to the UP once again.

The other book I chose is for Book Club: Behind the Beautiful Forevers
Hope we can have Book Club in person soon, although we can always try a Zoom group, complete with wine.

Unicorns

I hear from my young friends that unicorns continue to be very popular. I am looking for a book to give to a very special young lady for her birthday. Here are a few that I am considering.

Tribute to Detroit For Northview Seniors

I had a great time giving my Tribute to Detroit presentation, based on my novel Tarocco, to the Northview Seniors Group last Thursday. So many ex-Detroiters live in West Michigan! We all had a good time sharing stories about our experiences in the Big D. Hope to return with a new presentation in the future.

New Baby Books

Here are three recently published books I am planning as giving as gifts to the two babies being born into our family this winter and a big sister! So cute.

Grandma Gatewood Inspires

How can I complain about my aches and pains after reading Grandma Gatewood's Walk, the story of Emma Gatewood, the first woman who walked the entire Appalachian Trail alone - at the age of 67!
This inspiring story is our Book Club's next pick, and I can't wait to discuss.

Books for Holiday Gifts

Here is the picture book I decided to gift to our grand-niece this holiday.  Did you give a book as a gift?

Because, a 2019 Goodreads Awards nominee:
Mo Willems, a New York Times best-selling author and illustrator, composes a joyful symphony of chance, discovery, persistence, and magic. This is an inspiring tale of a girl's journey to center stage - very appropriate for me to give as I work at a Fine Arts Center! The illustrator is Amber Ren who brings the book to life with gorgeous artwork.
